Maintenance Fitter

An opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Fitter to join the Company’s Maintenance Team. Key tasks of this role are managing repairs and preventative/planned maintenance and breakdowns on the plant equipment to minimise production down time. You will be responsible for installation, day to day maintenance, repair and refurbishment of plant and equipment, including hydraulic presses, lathes, milling machines, pneumatically/hydraulically controlled machinery. The role will also involve monitoring, troubleshooting, testing and repair of equipment to identify preventative action to maximise uptime of all production facilities. You will demonstrate a strong focus of the importance of applying stringent Health and Safety principles within the workplace.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experiences:

  • A recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship
  • Health and Safety qualification
  • A strong track record in a maintenance/ fitting role preferably within a manufacturing/engineering environment
  • Comprehensive hands-on knowledge of mechanical plant machinery including pneumatic and hydraulics
  • Electrical experience would be advantageous
  • Bench fitting skills
  • Experience in the use of overhead cranes and slinging techniques
  • Proficient use of workshop equipment (turning, milling, grinding etc...)
  • Able to Oxy/Acetylene weld and cut /Able to Electric Arc weld and MIG weld, some experience of TIG welding
  • Ability to understand and produce engineering drawings
  • General knowledge of health and safety standards and the ability to carry out on the job risk assessments
  • Full driving license required
  • A strong track record of implementing continuous improvement techniques

You must be flexible in approach with a CAN DO attitude with the ability to manage your time effectively whilst working to tight targets and deadlines. Must be willing to do overtime as this may be needed on occasions. The ideal candidate is able to work as part of a team & on own initiative and be willing to undertake other reasonable duties when required.
