Sales Estimator

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our busy Estimating team.

Role Responsibilities include:

  • Carefully inspect tender documentation, analysing the exact requirements and identifying areas that have implications to be noted
  • Produce and co-ordinate appropriate tender/quotation responses to enquiries
  • Monitor enquiry process and dates for quote returns
  • Liaise with customers and assist them in selecting methods/products best suited to their needs
  • Clearly identify items to have enquiries sent out, together with specifications and appropriate drawings within the MRP system
  • Provide a detailed Bill of Materials and liaise with Purchasing to co-ordinate costs within the estimating package
  • Initial compilation of the Method of Manufacture routing then liaising with manufacturing department to detail final routings within estimating Package
  • Contact customers to arrange meetings or site visits to meet all the tender requirements
  • Assess individual rates and prices, amend, create new or insert from material and subcontract quotes dependent upon customer and market requirements
  • Maintain MRP estimating details and produce monthly reports for Management Information

Suitable Candidates will demonstrate:

  • A strong track record in a manufacturing/engineering environment with experience in a similar role;
  • Must be time served through a recognised engineering apprenticeship
  • Technical/Professional engineering related qualification, i.e. project management qualification or HNC
  • Proven experience of technical report writing
  • Strong knowledge of engineering, or fabrication, or machining, or sub-contract sales
  • The ability to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings/specifications
  • Sound commercial and business acumen
  • Excellent communication, organisation and strong negotiation skills
  • Able to demonstrate problem solving ability
  • Strong PC skills including MS packages
  • Full driving license with willingness to travel
